Here are some worthwhile reissues, archival releases, or comps from 2006 that I purchased, in no particular order:

John Cale: Paris 1919 (Deluxe Edition) The Comsat Angels: Waiting For A Miracle; Sleep No More; Time Considered As A Helix Of Semi-Precious Stones The Sound: The Dutch Radio Recordings Vol. 1-5 Neil Young & The Crazy Horse: Live At The Fillmore East 1970 Dead Moon: Echoes Of The Past Siouxsie & The Banshees: Voices On The Air: The Peel Sessions

UPDATE: As a result of a total brain fart, I forgot one of my favorite reissues this year: Chavez: Better Days Will Haunt You

Barely making it:

PJ Harvey: The Peel Sessions [What there is on this disc is excellent, but the extremely significant downside is that it's not a complete set of Harvey's Peel Sessions.]

The Damned: Noise Noise Noise [Collects various older live releases in one, budget-priced five-disc box. Again the material is excellent, but there is quite a bit of overlap in song selections.]

Worthwhile 2006 releases that I don't feel a pressure to (re-)purchase:

Wire: Pink Flag; Chairs Missing; 154 Pavement: Wowee Zowee - Sordid Sentinels Edition Josef K: Entomology Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band: Hammersmith Odeon London ‘75 The Clash: The Singles (19-disc box)

No doubt there were other worthy reissues as well, such as mid-career studio albums, with extra goodies, by Siouxsie & The Banshees and The Cure. If you don't have those albums already, go and get 'em. I've seen some people list the reissue of The Lucy Show's Mania as a 2006 release. If it were, I'd list it, too. But in fact it was released in Nov. 2005.

I'm purposefully not listing DualDisc releases like Psychocandy or Remain In Light and Fear Of Music. Let DualDisc be damned. Other suggestions are welcome.

Nice selections. I agree on the DualDisc. The Talking Heads reissues came out in the UK as double CD/DVD sets. Way too expensive though. I haven't completed my reissue list yet, but I have 86 so far.

Big second on the Paris 1919. An astonishing piece of music.

A) The Chavez box set is phenomenal.

B) I concur. Fuck Dual-Disc.

I should also have listed these:

Wire: Live at The Roxy/Live at CBGB Theatre (previously unreleased live material from 1977-78) The Exploding Hearts: Shattered (unreleased songs and alternative versions of previously released songs) The Wrens: Secaucus (one fine album to reissue, although I don’t know if this has any extra goodies)
