Stupendous new Richard Hawley: "Tonight the Streets Are Ours"

Posted almost 5 years ago
Wow. Wow. "Tonight the Streets Are Ours" promises great things of Richard Hawley's upcoming new album Lady's Bridge (due out in UK on August 20th). It's all there: Hawley crooning gorgeously to twangy guitars and satiny orchestral arrangements. Rejoice.

  2. Augusts1 says Beautiful song. Didn't know who he was so had to look him up on Wiki. Longpigs, Pulp(briefly), solo, & producer, quite a resume.

  9. goodmusiconly says Wasn't he up for the Mercury Prize last year? I've been meaning to check him out for a while ... now that I hear his voice I cannot put my finger on who he reminds me of. Alas, it will come to me. Thanks Pekka, it's lovely!

  11. 1234chainsaw says Erin: how about a combo of Frank Sinatra, Chet Baker, and a touch of Mark Lanegan?

  12. goodmusiconly says I have to say that's a pretty good combo, P. At first, I was thinking he might remind me of Midge Ure (remember Ultravox?) ... but now I'm thinking the timbre of his voice is reminding me of Brendan Perry (Dead Can Dance) with a little Harry Connick Jr. and Morrissey thrown in ... do you hear it? Haha, this can become a new game ... voice duels!

  14. Jonh Ingham says I think he sounds like Richard Hawley. And to repeat Jox's comment: wow.
