Credit for the post where credit's due: While I was thinking about Rocknrollpimp and David Hyman's RAWK duel, and what songs I'd march onto the arena if I weren't on the bleachers on that one, I got to thinking about a different kind of musical duel.
The English language has a large lexicon, and its grammar allows the words in its lexicon to be combined into an infinite number of possible grammatical sentences. Yet some expressions come more naturally to us than others. So sometimes it happens that entirely different songs, and songs that you might like both, have the same title. Those songs will often have a bit of a duel of their own: which one will you first think about when you hear the title?
Here's one such pair of songs among the many that came to mind:
The Dandy Warhols track has an infectiously bouncy rhythm and some nice Morricone-style guitars. But, for better or worse, when I hear the words "get off" I think of the opening howl of the Bad Religion tune: "Lascivious!" Duel settled.
