WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Keith Moon Was F*%#ing Amazing

Posted over 2 years ago
Heaven And Hell (Isle of Wight, 1970)

It's Keith Moon's drumming that makes this song (a song that The Who themselves thought they never got right in the studio) a perfect kick start to any day and every day, as well as to the Who shows back in the day. Check out John Entwistle's skeleton suit. And try to watch Moon go berserk about 2:15 in without getting a big grin on your face.

See Me Feel Me/Listening To You (Isle of Wight, 1970)

By all rights, a perfect set closer. Lyrically one of the most tender Who songs. Again it's Keith Moon who carries the song dynamics.

It's high time I bought the Live at the Isle of Wight Festival 1970 DVD.

  1. RaG3aH0liC says I agree on the high time for Isle of Wight. One of the most amazing performances ever in my op. I just watched this (followed by Hendrix @ IoW) a few days ago as I was unpacking. Must-own. Great post, on account of the truth of Keith Moon's insanity / brilliance.

  2. goodmusiconly says It's so amazing to watch brilliant drummers; for me a lot of the time I'm listening to them more than the guitars. Of course it's a package deal, but having an excellent drummer can transform a good band into a great band. Great clips, thanks for posting! Hope Finland is treating you well :)

  3. Rawkkiddoh says by far my favorite member of a band to watch is the drummer

  4. Jammy Jeff says I agree Pekka. For me he was the greatest drummer. The band pretty much died when Moon died IMO.

  6. Oatmeal says Wow, that See Me... is stunning. Moon really drove them. They were really a killer band. I love Townsend's devotional/spiritual lyrics that become slightly more accessible through the delivery of daltrey.
