WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Adam Franklin (ex-Swervedriver) to drop a solo album (plus Interpol trivia)

Posted over 2 years ago
Probably a total of about 5 moggers will care about this (if I'm lucky), but since Swervedriver were absolutely awesome and Adam Franklin's post-Swervie project Toshack Highway wasn't half bad, here it is anyway.

Franklin is set to drop a solo album Bolts Of Melody on June 26th. Judging on the basis of a couple of tracks that you can stream on MySpace, the material is more song-driven than the more instrumental-driven Toshack material. That sounds quite promising to me.

The Interpol trivia that I mentioned to shamelessly plug Bolts Of Melody is that Franklin and Sam Fogarino have a side project called The Setting Suns, whom you can also stream on MySpace. (One song's called "Cold War Kids" - too bad it's not a satire of that band of the same name.)

  2. Dale says "Seize The Day" sounds really good; oh goodness, I missed that voice in my life, and love the melody. Settings Suns don't sound bad, either.

  4. kristiana says hey, very cool! sounds good. Wow, Swervedriver, winter of '91...crazy. I haven't listened to them in a long time, didn't expect to get sorta choked up like I did listening to one of their songs....here's one now, with some motorbikes, haha! Actually, this video did make me kinda jealous, wishing I was zooming around on a bike in the countryside listening to this song. Wouldn't that be lovely?

  10. goodmusiconly says oh sure, I go out of town, THEN you go on a posting spree ;) I was going to say count me as #6 who care about Swervedriver (_Raise_ certainly had its share of spins back in the day), but it looks like I shall take the slot of #8. I'm liking Franklin's myspace samples quite a bit ... thanks for the lead Pekka!
