Rainy Friday, Not Funky

Northern California was hit by a heavy Pacific storm today. Extremely strong winds and several inches of rain, and with that, power outages, traffic disruptions, back alleys turned into streams of water. I was supposed to drive to San Francisco to see Midnight Movies tonight, but I probably won't take the trouble of a show-buzz-killing drive. So just the day for some NOLA soul, and Irma Thomas in particular. On happier days it's her "Break-A-Way" that brings a smile to my face and a skip in my step. But on days like this, it songs like "It's Raining" that soothe me. And soon enough, a time to open a bottle of sumptuous red Burgundy and kick back.

mutterimieli says Better to be safe than sorry Pekka.. sucks that you'll miss the show but good that you'll be home safe and sound. It's died down a bit but one of the patients at work coming from said that three lanes on the freeway were under water for a bit.
