YMCA

Went to a wedding last night. Of course, they played the Village People's YMCA. Why does America uniformly accept that song --- an unapologetic song about a popular hookup spot for homosexual males --- as a staple of any sort of celeberatio, but America is at best on the fence as to accepting homosexuals as a respected part of society? Maybe (probably) this question has been posed numerous times before, but I just thought about it for the first time as watched the dance floor surge as that song came on.

funny thing is I was singing this song in my head today thinking about the village people and how popular this song is and what exactly it's referring to. i think the majority of america prefers to be oblivious to it's actual suggestion because it's a catchy tune. that, and i think people just love doing the Y.M.C.A. dance...
I think what is most amusing is that UD was singing this song in his head.
you would find that amusing TD... i buried myself with that one... and the sad thing is, I have no comeback... doh!
you could say that Turd was oblivious because he just didn't understand the lyrics Dave, but of course we know that's not true.

It's like when Blitzkrieg Bop plays at the stadiums..folks (present company excepted) don't listen too well.
Hey RD - Is that how you hurt your hip? Playing ball at the Y?
yup. they have everything.
I don't necessarily love dancing to the YMCA, but I do love the feeling of a packed dance floor.
Also, playing ball at the Y in just a few hours. I'll try to avoid the hip injuries.
